downtown bayfront History Tour

Travel back in time

Experience a unique blend of history and eco-adventure with our Downtown Bayfront History Tour. This kayak tour will take you along the Bayfront of America’s oldest city, providing you with an opportunity to indulge in some extraordinary stories of the city’s past. Paddle by the Castillo de San Marcos/Old Fort, Fountain of Youth, the Nombre de Dios Mission, and the Great Cross, which designates the landing site of the Spanish.

As you paddle up Hospital Creek along the salt marsh, you’ll have a chance to engage with the city’s natural environments. Keep an eye out for possible wildlife sightings, including dolphins, manatees, sea turtles, stingrays, and various marsh birds, such as the Great Blue Heron and the Roseate Spoonbills.

Our knowledgeable kayak guides will intrigue you with storytelling and a bubbling personality, helping you explore the beautiful aquatic downtown landscape of St Augustine. This tour is an excellent way to get off the crowded streets and onto the path less traveled.

It’s important to note that the Downtown Bayfront History Tour is recommended for intermediate kayakers. The waterways here are more susceptible to wind speeds and boating traffic, so we only take guests on this tour who are over the age of 15 and provide only solo kayaks. This tour will last approximately two hours, providing ample time to experience the beauty and history of St Augustine.
