Back Water Tour

Join us for a unique adventure and paddle back in time in old Florida with our Backwater Eco Tour in the Deep Creek Conservation Area. The conservation area spans 5,374 acres on both sides of State Road 207 near Hastings, providing an ideal habitat for a variety of wildlife, including deer, turkey, and numerous waterfowl, wading, and marsh birds. You may even catch a glimpse of the double-breasted cormorants, egrets, and great blue herons that are typically prevalent in the area’s 203-acre Edgefield parcel along Dog Branch, a tributary of the St. Johns River.

The Deep Creek bridge on State Road 207, just west of State Road 206, serves as the launch facility for the tour. As you paddle along the creek, keep an eye out for alligators, manatees, and otters, which can often be spotted in the area. Most of the tour is canopied and shaded, making it the perfect escape from the Florida sun. Located just a 20-minute drive from downtown St. Augustine, this is one of the closest real freshwater kayak tours in the area.

Please note that the launch area is situated in the woods, and there are no facilities or spots to get out of your kayak once you’re on the creek. This is a group tour with an easy rating, and all skill levels are welcome to join us on this off-the-beaten-path adventure.
